‘I’m very clearly fighting for Canada,’ Danielle Smith on Alberta separatism

Albertans will be going to the polls October 19th — not to elect a government, but rather to cast ballots on at least nine questions in an historic referendum. Those questions reflect Alberta’s desire to take more control over management of immigration and also to pursue a constitutional realignment within Canada. Of course, it’s also quite likely that this referendum ballot will include a question on Alberta’s very future in Confederation and whether the province should leave Canada. We’ll hear directly from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith in this interview as she lays out the case for her referendum strategy — and what the rest of the country needs to know about Alberta’s concerns and the implications of these crucial votes.
