Gotham Knights studio Warner Bros. Games Montréal appear to have laid off staff

Warner Bros. Games Montréal, developers of Gotham Knights, look to have laid off an unspecified number of staff late last week. At least three former workers at the studio took to LinkedIn on Friday to post about their departures, with one explicitly mentioning that they’d been cut as part of a round of layoffs.

As spotted by Eurogamer, ssociate narrative director Ceri Young, level designer Camille Olivier Paquette, and associate producer Nicolas Pereira-Poisson all revealed that they’re no longer working at WB Montréal in their posts on March 13th. “Got affected by layoffs,” Pereira-Poisson wrote. “After basically 9 years at the WB Montreal studio, I had the opportunity to work across many different roles and projects and overall had lots of fun so I am not going to feel sad about this news.”

Neither Young or Paquette directly mentioned layoffs, instead simply revealing that they’re no longer at WB Montréal and now looking for work.

I’ve reached out to Warner Bros. Games Montréal for comment.

Following the 2022 release of Gotham Knights (you can read Ed’s Gotham Knights review if you fancy), a job listing had suggested that whatever the studio’s next game might be, it’d likely have some live-servicey bits to it. Warner Bros. Games as a whole have endured a tough last few years, with Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League missing its financial targets and WB’s execs subsequently opting to shutter three studios as part of some large-scale spreadsheet-induced culling.

MultiVersus developers Player First Games, mobile studio Warner Bros Games San Diego, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor developers Monolith were the three casualties of those February 2025 cuts, with the latter’s Wonder Woman game cancelled. In a statement at the time, a Warner Bros. Games spokesperson said the company had “had to make some very difficult decisions to structure [their] development studios and investments around building the best games possible with our key franchises — Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC and Game of Thrones”.

Solidarity to any workers affected by layoffs at WB Montréal.
