‘Hands off our grants’: High school students…


Starting this fall, Premier Doug Ford’s government will significantly reduce grant amounts under the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).

Students at dozens of schools across the province left classes around noon ET Wednesday to protest the planned changes. Many say planned grant cuts would hurt their education at protests that generally wrapped up around 2 p.m.

The province has repeatedly defended the OSAP changes, saying the program’s current structure is unsustainable.

Students are currently in limbo because the new OSAP calculator, which factors in changes, hasn’t been released.
