Marathon’s next update will help your vault feel roomier, and Bungie outlines their plans for higher-end PCs

Marathon has entered its second week of existence, even if it somehow feels like it’s already been around forever (perhaps that’s the discourse I’m remembering now that I think about it), and Bungie have been ticking away at updates bit by bit. Just this week an update was introduced that made UESC enemies a tad weaker, and now Bungie have outlined what you can expect from update 1.0.5 which is coming to the shooter next week.

For starters, your vault space will be looking a bit roomier. That’s because you’ll be able to stack greater quantities of consumables, ammo, salvage, and grenades, a change that’s being implemented after some feedback suggested there just wasn’t enough space. You’ll also find new vault filters for keys and backpacks when the update drops.

On top of this, Bungie are planning on tweaking the audio distance for proximity chat, explaining that they “recognize that this was an overcorrection and will pull things back in a way that maintains your ability to hear each other’s actions, but not at a distance that feels excessive. We’re still aligning on how to ensure the best player experience and will deploy changes in an upcoming update.”

And for all the PC hardware buffs out there that love to min-max their settings, Bungie are planning two things. The first, in the near term, will include a guide that will “help you get the most out of the hardware you have today.” And the second, which is more of a long term plan, is that there will be specific improvements for high-spec PCs, though a note was made that this will take a while, and you shouldn’t expect these improvements all at once in a single season.

Lastly, a pesky little issue where Rook runner shells could hop into a run and leave straight away, still getting a bonus lot of credits as they do so. “You’re going to have to try harder than that, Rooks,” so say Bungie in their Steam post. This is all also only a taste of the changes, I’m sure there’ll be some finer tuned bits to expect whenever the update drops next week.
