Mega Crit unveils Slay the Spire 2 plushies and oh dear I’ve bought two of them

Mega Crit has unveiled three new Slay the Spire 2 plushies and oh dear I’ve ordered two of them.

The Slay the Spire 2 plushies are being sold through crowdfunding website Makeship, and they’re only available for a limited time – until 3rd April. The new designs feature series core characters the Ironclad, Silent and Defect, and they’re $30 each with a $20-ish shipping fee to get the plushies to the UK. There’s also a chance they might incur a customs charge when they arrive here so, you know, it really was an irresponsible purchase, Purchese.

But it’s Slay the Spire 2! And everyone is wild for Slay the Spire 2 right now. It’s been the fourth most played game on Steam for days – I think it was briefly third – and it’s been posting outrageous concurrent player numbers stretching as high as 570k. Mega Crit even gave Bungie a bit of sass over the weekend because Slay the Spire 2 was more popular than Marathon.

It’s a remarkable level of success for a deck-building roguelike, and I imagine the show-stealing addition of multiplayer to Slay the Spire 2 is having a notable effect on those player numbers. But there’s also plenty else to enjoy about the game, such as the two new playable classes – the Necrobinder and Regent – which come with bold new decks and gameplay concepts of their own (Doom, I love you). And there’s an entire game’s worth of fresh events to deliberate over, before you invariably choose unwisely and later regret it. Presentationally the sequel is a significant upgrade too.

I’m still chipping away at Slay the Spire 2 but I hope to bring deeper thoughts on the game, beyond ‘there are plushies!’, to the website soon.
