Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the Carolina Panthers, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

The deal has $25 million guaranteed, according to the NFL Network.

It came hours after the Panthers agreed to a deal with another big defensive piece, former Dolphins and Eagles linebacker Jaelan Phillips.

Lloyd, 27, had the best season of his four-year career in 2025, finishing with five interceptions, one fumble recovery, seven pass breakups, 10 quarterback hits and 81 tackles. Lloyd, who had a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs, earned second-team All-Pro honors and made the Pro Bowl.

He’s a free agent because the Jaguars declined to pick up his fifth-year option last spring after a disappointing first three seasons. Lloyd, the 27th pick in 2022, had a solid start to his career, earning NFL Rookie of the Month honors in September after posting 24 tackles, six pass breakups, and two interceptions in his first three games.

But Lloyd also got benched for fellow rookie Chad Muma later that season after being out of position in pass coverage and struggling in run defense. Lloyd eventually regained his starting job but had similar issues in 2023 and 2024.

However, he thrived in 2025 under new coach Liam Coen and first-year defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, who used Lloyd more as a pass rusher and less in coverage than former Jaguars coordinators Ryan Nielsen and Mike Caldwell did in the previous three seasons. Lloyd’s 95 pass-rush snaps and 24 pressures were the most of his career, and his 331 coverage snaps and one touchdown allowed in coverage were the fewest of his career. He had given up 13 touchdowns in coverage from 2022 to 2024, per NextGen Stats.

Lloyd has 436 tackles, nine interceptions, 3.5 sacks, 18 QB hits, 26 pass breakups and five fumble recoveries in his four seasons with the Jaguars.
