Mollie Jepsen’s Paralympics have come to an early end due to a knee injury.

The Canadian Paralympic Committee and Alpine Canada announced that the West Vancouver, B.C., native will not compete in the four events remaining on her schedule.

Jepsen, a six-time Paralympic medallist, completed the women’s standing downhill competition on Saturday but re-aggravated an injury from a month ago, ultimately missing the podium by one spot.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the team around me, and all the support that I received to get back here,” Jepsen said in a press release. “And beyond that, being part of such an elite group that helped me return to the start gate with confidence in the downhill was something really special.”

“I’m excited to cheer on Team Canada from the stands and watch my teammates continue to compete out there.”

Jepsen was scheduled to compete in the super-G, alpine combined, giant slalom and slalom.

She is a two-time Paralympic champion, having won the super combined event at PyeongChang 2018 and the downhill four years ago in Beijing.

Canada’s Para alpine team returns to action Monday for the men’s and women’s super-G events at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina, Italy.
