Marcus Tavernier: Bournemouth set their price tag for United target

Manchester United are considering looking at Bournemouth once again to strengthen their attack.

In January, United tried to sign Antoine Semenyo from the Cherries, only for the Ghanaian winger to eventually pick Manchester City as his preferred destination.

The Red Devils wanted Semenyo to feature on the left-hand side of their attack, and the area remains a cause of concern.

Marcus Tavernier on Manchester United’s watchlist

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United have “added Bournemouth forward Marcus Tavernier to their list of potential left-wing targets for the summer.”

Tavernier, who is also attracting interest from Aston Villa, has been an influential part of Bournemouth’s attack under Andoni Iraola.

The 26-year-old has been directly involved in 10 goals across all competitions, impressing with his strong dribbling and ability to link up with teammates in tight spaces.

The Englishman, who is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well, is under contract until 2029 so could reportedly be valued around £40 million.

United are also monitoring the versatile Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

The report adds: “United will monitor developments while their final choice will also be determined by where they finish this season. Champions League qualification will change the landscape of what players they will be able to pursue. However, if they miss out, they may need to sell to help generate funds and lower their sights on who they can afford to attract.”

Manchester United set their sights on Tyler Adams

The Premier League giants also want to sign two midfielders in the summer.

Much has been reported about United’s interest in Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. However, it is believed they are also following Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams.

Tavernier’s teammate, who is an athletic midfielder, would also be allegedly available at a fee in the region of £40m.
