You’ll need bricks in Pokémon Pokopia to complete more advanced, non-leaf building projects, though Pokopia doesn’t go out of its way to tell you how to get bricks early on. You’ll need a specific resource and the labor of a certain type of Pokémon, but once you get started, making bricks is something you can easily slot into your daily routine without much fuss.
Below, we explain how to get bricks in Pokémon Pokopia and where to look for clay.
How to get bricks in Pokémon Pokopia
You’ll need some squishy clay and the help of a Pokémon with the Burn speciality. Those include:
- Charmander
- Torchic
- Litwick
- Growlithe
- Vulpix
There are more — you can see the full list in our Pokopia Pokédex — but since you meet Charmander in the first area and Torchic in Bleak Beach, you’ll be able to make bricks as soon as you get clay.
With clay in hand:
- Speak to your Burn Pokémon of choice.
- Select “Look at this!”
- Show them the clay.
- Ask them to turn it into bricks.
One lump of squishy clay turns into two bricks, and you can fork over up to 10 lumps of squishy clay at a time. It’ll take a few minutes for the Pokémon to fire the clay into bricks, but there’s no limit on how many times per day you can have them make bricks for you.
In general, bricks are not a resource you’ll find in the wild like rocks are.
How to get squishy clay in Pokémon Pokopia
You can start harvesting squishy clay after completing the “Yawn up a Storm” request, when rain falls and softens the clay that’s keeping Onix trapped. Use Rock Smash to bust the blocks, and collect the squishy clay that’s left behind. There’s a good few dozen squishy clay blocks in the cave system here, but you’ll also find more clay blocks in the Bleak Beach region.
Once you make a Pokémon habitat for Paldean Wooper, you may find clumps of squishy clay around that habitat. They have the Litter speciality, which causes them to drop a specific type of item at intervals, like Combee with honey, and Wooper’s item is squishy clay.
If you’re starting out in Pokémon Pokopia, we have guides to help you spruce up your island. We have both a Pokédex and Habitat Dex to assist in figuring out what can spawn where, and what you need to build to summon your favorite creatures. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can also check out our beginner’s guide for some early tips and tricks to help smooth out your journey.
We also have walkthroughs for the other important requests that progress the story: “Brighten Things Up!,” “Time to Party!,” and “Build the Huge Building!” If you’re looking to play with friends, know that there are restrictions for the regular Pokopia multiplayer and for the GameShare version.
