Put down your pencil case and get ready to answer when your name’s called. Or prepare to pancake a bunch of rolling wrecks. Either way, early access banger Wreckfest 2’s latest major update’s delivered a school bus. It’s far from the lone addition either, with the sequel’s first crack and car upgrading and waypoint races arriving alongside the usual extra cars and tracks.

As outlined in the Scandinavian-accented video above and the Steam notes for early access update six, the bus from the original Wreckfest 2’s finally joined the sequel’s roster of special vehicles. If the motorhome added last year doesn’t offer enough beefy bashing for your tastes, the trundling stick of metal with enough seats for an entire class almost certainly will.

Maybe try out one of the new waypoint races with it – these look similar to Forza Horizon’s offroad rushes, with a gang of panel-bashers rushing from smoke flare to smoke flare, and are set against a desert backdrop for now. The more standard rallycross track the update adds, Dalsbanen, also looks like good fun if you find the lack of barriers blunts the waypoint races’ potential for close quarters wrecking.

Cars-wise, there are two new ones alongside the bus. First up is the Hurricane, a not-quite-Chevy Camaro which joins the game’s already pretty large gang of American muscle bruisers. More unique in my eyes is the Nami, a nippy sports roller skate modelled on the 90s Mazda MX-5 (or Miata if you’re a yank). Notably, this update also brings with it the ability to modify the performance of these and other rides via an upgrade system.

As in the first Wreckfest, you can swap out parts ranging from engine intake manifolds to brakes and rollbars. Doing so will boost your car’s stats and the performance point total that’ll dictate the strength of competition you’re served outside of multiplayer. I’m not sure whether the amount of rust you’re rocking or how many go faster stripes you’ve draped across your roof using the livery editor factors into that equation.
