The perfect rug for the Pokémon fan in your life — who might just be you — is coming in the form of a giant Snorlax. The Pokémon Company and Japanese rug maker Miyoshi Rug are teaming up for a new collection of Pokémon-themed rugs for the gaming franchise’s 30th anniversary. And, no, sorry, you can’t have them.
Miyoshi Rug will capture Snorlax, Ditto, Pikachu’s butt, and a Poké Ball in rug form for a limited collection coming in March. The Pokémon collection drops on March 8, at 9 p.m. JST, but you’ll have to jump through hoops in an attempt to get one. Miyoshi Rug is selling its Pokémon rugs through a lottery system that you can register for through its dedicated store app, which is in Japanese and requires an address in Japan. So, to reiterate, you cannot have these Pokémon rugs.
The upside is that the perfect rug — that giant Snorlax — is prohibitively expensive, coming in at around $700, so you probably didn’t want it anyway. Not at that price! Here’s what the Pokémon Miyoshi rugs cost, if you’re still trying to figure out how you can get one:
- Pikachu rug – ¥13,750 (about $88)
- Ditto rug – ¥9,900 (about $63)
- Poké Ball chair rug – ¥5,500 (about $35)
- Snorlax rug – ¥110,000 (about $700)
For now, you can simply enjoy the Pokémon Miyoshi Rug collection in JPEG form in the gallery below. Looking and coveting are free!
