Adidas is continuing to tinker with slightly different builds for its hottest running shoe of the moment, as a new exoskeleton has arrived on the Evo SL.

The Adidas Evo SL Exo features a series of sweeping synthetic overlays on its upper, providing more containment and another avenue of expression that could make it more appealing for lifestyle wear. On its baseline model, the Evo SL’s engineered mesh upper is completely plain save for the oversized Three Stripes motif that carries over to the midsole.

Numerous colorways of the Evo SL Exo are available through different channels, including four on Adidas’ own website. Black-and-white and white-and-black variants both carry a metallic silver exoskeleton, as does an even more bold version in black with “Lucid Orange” stripes. Another vibrant look comes from a pair with a “Solar Yellow” midsole and exoskeleton to go along with a black base and steel gray stripes.

After a limited launch in 2024, the Evo SL was made more broadly available beginning in spring 2025 and has since become Adidas’ top-selling running shoe. Runners have praised the shoe for its versatility and balance of comfort and performance at a light weight and approachable $150 price point. Its geometry and Lightstrike Pro foam are informed by the Adios Pro Evo 1 super shoe, only without the carbon fiber rods for race-day performance.

The Exo build is now the third offshoot of the model, joining the Evo SL Woven with a more robust woven upper and gusseted tongue and the Evo SL ATR, short for “all-terrain” and featuring a water-resistant upper and temperately lugged outsole.
