Kuwait mistakenly shoots down three U.S. jets, all aircrew safe


The U.S. hasn’t lost multiple jets to enemy fire since early in the 2003 invasion of Iraq. In so-called friendly-fire mishaps, a military accidentally shoots down one of its own aircraft. Such incidents aren’t uncommon during intense air defence activity. Radars tracking large numbers of incoming missiles, for instance, can mistake aircraft for threats.
