Oliver ‘Power’ Grant, a founding member of Wu-Tang Clan dead at 52

Oliver “Power” Grant, an original member of the seminal early 1990s hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan, has died, the New York City-based group said Wednesday.

Grant was 52.

“Rest in Power, Power,” the group said in an X post on Wednesday.

Hot 97, an iconic New York radio station that played a notable role in the rise of hip hop, and Method Man both reported Grant’s passing on Tuesday.

“Paradise my Brother safe Travels!!,” according to the rapper born Clifford Smith. “Bruh I am not ok.”

It was not immediately known how Grant passed away.

Grant’s death comes as Wu-Tang was named as a nominee for the 2026 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

They’re on a prestigious list that includes Luther Vandross, Shakira, Sade, Pink, Oasis, New Edition, Joy Division/New Order, Iron Maiden, INXS, Billy Idol, Lauryn Hill, Melissa Etheridge, Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Jeff Buckley and Black Crowes.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
