B.C. Ferries, contaminated sites and veterans on the agenda

What’s on the agenda for the House and Senate committees today.

More than six months after launching an investigation into the role of the Canada Infrastructure Bank in the controversial decision by B.C. Ferries to buy replacement vessels from a Chinese shipyard — and, more specifically, $1 billion in federal financing for the provincial agency — TRANSPORT, INFRASTRUCTURE AND COMMUNITIES member are set to hear from Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, who, as per the notice, will appear alongside senior assistant deputy minister Richard Bilodeau and Canadian Security Intelligence Service deputy director Vanessa Lloyd. (4:30 p.m.)

Over at NATIONAL DEFENCE, MPs will get an update on the ongoing efforts to clean up contaminated sites from Terrebonne chief administrative officer Serge Villandré before shifting their focus to Francophone and Indigenous members of the Canadian Armed Forces during a panel discussion with academic and research experts. (4:30 p.m.)

Meanwhile, FISHERIES AND OCEANS members will continue to explore issues related to marine and coastal protection with officials from Parks Canada, Fisheries and Oceans and Environment. (4 p.m.)

Rounding out the roster, VETERANS AFFAIRS members explore “barriers to entrepreneurship among veterans.” (4:30 p.m.)
