Birkenstock 1774 Reveals Chapter Two of Ensemble 1774 by Thibo Denis

Birkenstock 1774 and Thibo Denis are continuing their story and releasing the second chapter of their joint venture, which aimed to merge heritage, function and modern craftsmanship. The new collection builds on the first release, which dropped in October and introduced three new silhouettes: the Goerlitz, Uerzell and Stroedt.

Now with Chapter Two, the brands are revisiting those forms but with fresh new colors and materials. Both collections center around the idea of “climbing the city,” which the brand describes as being a metaphor for moving confidently while freely exploring and navigating urban landscapes. Denis translated this concept with the shoes by creating tactile, versatile designs rendered in warm, grounded tones.

The Goerlitz, which is known for its amplified proportions and dual-strap structure, returns in grounded tones like bordeaux and taupe suede. The Uerzell is a refined slip-on mule with clean, sculptural lines and a visible cork midsole. For Chapter Two, it is reimagined in black suede. The Stroedt, originally introduced in leather, is now available in maroon and taupe suede, giving the low-profile lace-up a softer, more tactile expression.

Each silhouette features the signature Birkenstock Blue Footbed, which is a removable, anatomically shaped insole rooted in the brand’s orthopedic tradition and is finished with the iconic bone-pattern outsole and the 1774 emblem embossed in blue. The second chapter of the collection is now available for purchase in unisex sizing from 36 to 47 at 1774.com and through selected global retail partners.

Ensemble 1774 is a new platform within the 1774 ecosystem, created to invite visionary talents to engage with Birkenstock’s archive and values to reinterpret its legacy through fresh perspectives and original design. Each chapter with every collaborator begins with the principles that define Birkenstock, which are quality, function and tradition, while opening space to explore new ideas and product categories.

The brand partnered with Denis, who has more than 15 years of experience in footwear. He began his career at Kris Van Assche as a designer for shoes and accessories, then joined the LVMH Group in 2015 at Christian Dior Couture, where he collaborated with Kim Jones on footwear collections and participated in the development of ready-to-wear capsules such as Air Dior and ERL.

Denis also played a key role in designing the Dior by Birkenstock collaboration, which was released in January 2022. Thibo then joined the Louis Vuitton Men’s Studio team, alongside the men’s creative director Pharrell Williams. The designer oversees the fashion house’s men’s accessories and shoes collections.
