Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is getting a new booster pack next week, and it’s all about the Paldea region. Paldean Wonders is coming to the mobile game on Feb. 26, adding more cards built around monsters from Scarlet and Violet. That includes the dreaded Gholdengo, who is getting immortalized as a new ex card.
TCG Pocket is currently in the midst of its second year. Its most recent booster pack, Fantastical Parade, was all about Gardevoir. For Paldean Wonders, all three of Scarlet and Violet‘s starters — Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly — are featured on the front of the new booster pack. Like Fantastical Parade, there’s only one pack coming with this update, potentially signaling an end to the days of having to juggle two or three different booster sets.
A quick trailer gives players a glimpse at just a few of the cards coming with the set. In addition to the starter trio, we’re getting Smoliv, Klawf, Pawmi, Paldean Wooper, and more highlights from the region’s Pokédex. Arven and Nemona will join the game as support cards, and Mesagoza is a new stadium card. As for the high-value cards, the trailer includes a cute full-art Maushold and a fierce Meowscarada ex card.
The only bad news is that you’re going to have to look at Gholdengo. The fan-least-favorite, who looks like a gold-plated version of Apple Jacks’ old cinnamon stick mascot, is getting a kind of wild ex card. Not only does it have 150 HP, but it has a potentially game-changing ability in Spending Rush. The one-energy attack picks one of your opponent’s monsters at random and does 40 damage to it per each tick of steel energy attached to Gholdengo ex. That sounds like a recipe for a Mega-slaying menace that’s sure to make players think twice about loading up their bench with heavy hitters early.
The Paldean Wonders update comes to Pokémon Trading Card Pocket on Feb. 26.
