Teyana Taylor put Thom Browne’s tallest platforms to work at the 2026 GQ Bowl on Friday, attending the designer’s fall 2026 show at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor in full gray tailoring with her two children in coordinated looks.
“The Rip” star wore Thom Browne’s Thom John spectator platform heels from the fall 2025 runway, built from black leather with a rounded toe, brogue-style detailing and a T-strap cutout across the instep. The upper sat on an oversize block platform wrapped in alternating black-and-white horizontal stripes, while a thin, high heel dropped straight from the back of the shoe to the floor.

Her outfit stayed inside Browne’s gray suit vocabulary, layering a glen-check blazer with strong shoulders layered over a matching waist panel and pleated detail at the hip, finished with the brand’s red-white-blue grosgrain tab at the hem. A straight, ankle-length skirt in the same check opened in a front slit that left the platforms visible as she walked. A white shirt and narrow tie completed the tailoring, while clear angular eyeglass frames, stacked necklaces and long braids finished the styling.

Her children picked up the uniform theme. Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. wore a cropped gray blazer and matching pleated skirt set detailed with Thom Browne’s white 4-bar stripes, plus a white shirt, tie and knee-high socks. She finished the look with gray Asics Gel-Kayano 14 runners, the 2008 stability model Asics brought back in 2020 and has since used for sell-out general releases and collaborations with partners including JJJJound and Kith, built with layered mesh and synthetic leather uppers, a sculpted midsole and GEL cushioning.

Rue Rose Shumpert wore a white textured dress under a red V-neck knit vest with contrast striping, carried Thom Browne’s Hector dog bag as a crossbody and finished the look with black lug-sole ankle boots, polished vamp straps and white socks.

Taylor’s Thom Browne platforms joined a stretch of shoes that has already moved from sharp stilettos to wedges and performance sneakers this year. In Los Angeles earlier in the week, she wore Saint Laurent’s Amalia slingback pumps in navy patent leather with a trench-inspired dress from the label’s spring 2026 collection at Charli XCX and Saint Laurent’s Grammys after party, and at Variety’s Pre-Golden Globes Party she chose over-the-knee purple python wedge boots from Nina Ricci’s spring 2026 runway. During Grammy weekend, she also previewed her upcoming Air Jordan 3 “Concrete Rose” collaboration, an Air Jordan 3 built with a removable thorn-wrapped rope detail, rose hardware and a cement-textured midsole.
Inside the museum, Browne’s fall 2026 collection returned to the gray tailoring that defined his early work, sending shrunken jackets, slim trousers and pleated skirts down the runway alongside looks styled with Asics Gel-Kayano 14 runners as part of his collaboration with the brand. In a preview with Jean E. Palmieri for WWD, he described the lineup as “really a reintroduction of what I’ve been doing for 25 years,” emphasizing the focus on proportion and classic suiting as current and former NFL players including Marcus Allen, Justin Jefferson and Deandre Hopkins joined the cast.
