Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) is one of the most important hubs in the United States of America, with its relatively central location making it a perfect fit for both domestic and international routes. It is also one of the country’s busiest airports, and, during the first half of 2026, it even has more scheduled flights than the bustling hub that is Atlanta (ATL). As such, it’s little wonder that United and American are fighting so hard for market share.
These two carriers are by far and away the most dominant in terms of capacity at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Indeed, current scheduling data made available by Cirium, an aviation analytics company, shows that 
United Airlines and American Airlines have respectively planned 14,767 and 12,375 one-way flights from O’Hare this February. But how do these figures compare to the facility’s top non-US airlines? Let’s take a look!
Air Canada Comes Out On Top
Air Canada is the top foreign airline at 
Chicago O’Hare International Airport, with 240 one-way departures scheduled in February. As seen in the map above, these flights serve three destinations: Montréal (YUL), Toronto Pearson (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR). The Embraer E175 is the top aircraft type, with 87 flights, followed by the Airbus A220 (61), Bombardier CRJ900 (59), A320 (31), A321 (two), and Boeing 737 MAX 8 (one).
Vancouver sees the lowest frequencies, with just one departure a day. However, Montréal and Toronto Pearson respectively see as many as three and five flights a day, resulting in a peak volume of nine daily Air Canada departures from O’Hare this February. Later this year, June will also see the Canadian flag carrier begin serving Chicago from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), with Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s EVP and CCO, saying that:
“The new routes will benefit our loyal customers and business travellers by creating frequent and easy connections between the heart of Canada’s financial capital and the major markets of New York, Boston, Washington, and Chicago.”
Volaris Is The Only Foreign Other Carrier With 100+ Departures
From north of the border to south of the border, the next largest non-US operator at Chicago O’Hare International Airport by scheduled one-way flights this February is Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris. In February 2026, the budget airline has pencilled in a grand total of 124 departures from O’Hare, with a peak of five daily departures. Its most-used aircraft type on its flights from Chicago is the Airbus A320, with 40 February departures.
This puts it just ahead of its stretched counterpart, the Airbus A321, which accounts for 36 flights. Meanwhile, the newer Airbus A320neo and A321neo will respectively serve 29 and 19 departures. Mexico City (MEX) is Volaris’ top destination from O’Hare, with the carrier offering either one or two flights a day for a monthly total of 44 departures in February 2026. This works out at 11 flights a week, compared to Guadalajara (GDL), which has 10.
Elsewhere, Volaris serves three more Mexican destinations with lower frequencies from O’Hare. Of these, Morelia (MLM) is the most popular, with 20 flights across February equating to five a week, followed by Leon (BJX) with 12 February departures (three a week) and Queretaro (QRO) with eight (two a week).

The Best Of The Rest
Looking at the rest of the top five foreign airlines at O’Hare by February departures, Mexico remains a key market, with the country being home to both third-placed Aeromexico and fourth-placed Viva Aerobus. These carriers have respectively pencilled in 76 and 72 departures from Chicago in February of 2026, with the former serving Mexico City (56) and Guadalajara (20) and the latter serving Guadalajara, Mexico City (28 each), and Monterrey (16).
Elsewhere, Lufthansa is the top European carrier, ranking fifth overall with 60 scheduled departures. These are split between 28 to Munich Airport (MUC) using the Airbus A350-900 and 32 to Frankfurt (FRA) using the A340. The latter figure consists of 28 A340-600 flights and four with the A340-300.
