“Rory’s become a friend. And frankly, I’d say without Rory’s support, I’m not even sure if we’d have it here,” Eric told Belfast Telegraph in an interview published Sunday, January 25. “Rory has been super supportive of the family. I was just with him two weeks ago. He played at Trump Jupiter [in Florida].”
Eric said he promised the golfer, 36, that the event — which is scheduled to take place September 10 to September 13 — will be the “best Irish Open that Ireland has ever seen.”
“The course is going to be perfect. The property is going to be perfect. The hospitality is going to be perfect. We’re going to put on a good show,” he added.
