Arteta issues rallying cry to Arsenal supporters – and reveals ‘beautiful’ meeting with his players after loss to Man Utd

Mikel Arteta has issued a rallying cry to his players and Arsenal supporters, urging them to enjoy the remaining four months of the season.

The Gunners suffered their first home defeat of the season on Sunday when they were beaten 3-2 by Manchester United, narrowing their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points.

And Arteta says he and his players have since sat down and spoken about the need to play with “enjoyment and courage” as they look to end the season with silverware.

“The reaction has been excellent,” Arteta said.

“We took a moment to bring the temperature down, to pause and to reflect and to ask two questions. One, how do we feel and how do I feel myself? And then how we want to live the next four months.

“It was so encouraging and beautiful because what came out of that was very simple. We have earned the right to be in a great position in four competitions and the next four months, we’re going to live and play with enjoyment, with a lot of courage and with a conviction that we’re going to win it.

“This is going to be the mindset and where we’re going to put the energy.

“I’m just hoping that everybody that is related to this club, especially our supporters, jump on that boat because this is the way we’re going to live the next four months. We deserve to live like this.”

Asked about the anxiousness from supporters at the Emirates on Sunday, Arteta responded: “This is why I encourage them to jump on this boat because it’s going to be fun. That excitement, that energy, that conviction, that will, is the way you have to live when you want to achieve a dream, when you want to achieve something that you play for for ten months.

“Because out of that, a lot of incredible things are going to emerge. A lot of things that we cannot even imagine. For me, that’s the only way to live it because we’re going to give absolutely everything.”
