The first numbered event of the Paramount era is in the books. UFC 324 delivered tons of action and incredible moments on Saturday night in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena. Justin Gaethje is walking away with the interim lightweight title after an instant classic in the main event with Paddy Pimblett.

Gaethje and Pimblett became perfect dance partners on Saturday night after both men appeared to throw caution to the wind and throw down over five rounds. Gaethje dropped Pimblett in the first round and appeared close to finishing things off before Pimblett managed to scramble back to his feet. He was then dropped again and nearly stopped before the round ended.

Somehow, Pimblett managed to bounce back and deliver some crushing blows of his own over the next four rounds despite taking incredible damage throughout. In the end, Gaethje took the decision on all three scorecards to earn the interim crown.

Elsewhere on the card, Sean O’Malley returned to the winner’s circle with a decision over Song Yadong in the co-main event. O’Malley, who was coming off consecutive losses to Merab Dvalishvili in title fights, called for a rematch with current titleholder Petr Yan next. O’Malley holds a split decision win over Yan in non-title action in 2022. Plus, heavyweight Waldo Cortes-Acosta picked up a third knockout win in as many months when he finished Derrick Lewis.
