The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement: “Canada unequivocally condemns the ongoing and escalating repression in Venezuela by Nicolas Maduro’s regime, particularly in the aftermath of the presidential elections. This has resulted in dozens of deaths and more than 2,000 arbitrary detentions, sometimes followed by the enforced disappearance of individuals—including more than 100 youth—who have participated in demonstrations.
