This week’s roundup of staffing changes on Parliament Hill.
Welcome back to Hill Movers.
We start today’s edition with a rare trek beyond Ottawa.
Former Liberal cabinet minister turned Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada has hired a former Hill dweller to take on the role of her chief spokesperson.
Joanna Kanga announced on LinkedIn that she’s joining Ferrada’s office as lead press secretary.
Kanga, who spent the fall working for the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, spent over three years on the Hill, most recently as the senior communications advisor for Industry Minister Melanie Joly.
Back in Ottawa, Layla Platt is now the office manager and executive assistant to Jobs and Families Minister Patty Hajdu.
She previously worked for Hajdu from 2023-25, and before that as a fundraising coordinator for the Liberal party.
