The Auburn Tigers are adding some much-needed talent to their secondary. On Sunday, Christian Clemente of 247Sports reported that Auburn picked up a commitment from Arizona transfer safety Jack Luttrell, which gives them 31 pickups from the transfer portal.

Auburn is adding Luttrell, who showed in 2024 the kind of player he can be during his freshman season. That year, he had 39 tackles and intercepted three passes. Expectations had to be high for Luttrell in 2025, but injuries seemed to derail his season. He only appeared in two games for the Wildcats, picking up three tackles and one interception. His best game with Arizona was in a 56-12 loss to UCF in 2024. In that game, Luttrell had 14 tackles with 12 being solo. He also had two interceptions that season versus Colorado, going up against Shedeur Sanders.

Luttrell initially committed to the Tennessee Volunteers as part of the 2023 recruiting class. He was a three-star player from Moultrie, Georgia, where he was rated in the top 100 players in the state. He would transfer to Arizona after the 2023 season.

The Auburn pass defense in 2025 ranked No. 11 in the SEC and has seen some turnover. Auburn has lost players like Jay Crawford (Ole Miss), Kayin Lee (Tennessee), and Kensley Louidor-Faustin (Missouri) to the transfer portal. They have, though, added five players to the secondary so far. Auburn has signed two safeties, Wayne Henry and Shadrick Toodle Jr. to the 2026 recruiting class. Eric Winters is also returning for his second season with the Auburn Tigers.
