I’ve always thought a brown lip liner doesn’t get nearly enough credit. It’s one of those products that just works, no matter what else you’re wearing on your lips. Softer than a nude but more flattering than you’d expect, it gives lips a bit of shape and warmth without looking obvious. Recently, I’ve noticed more makeup artists reaching for caramel, rosy-brown and cocoa shades to finish off a look, usually paired with whatever lipstick or lip gloss happens to be closest. That’s the beauty of it—brown liners go with almost everything. They feel especially right for winter, when makeup tends to lean more cool, so it adds a much-needed warmth.
