Minister Champagne to travel to Washington to meet with international counterparts


January 11, 2026

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will be in Washington D.C. on January 11 and 12 to participate in a series of meetings with his G7 counterparts and other like-minded countries on trade.

While in Washington, Minister Champagne will participate in a finance ministers’ meeting hosted by United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss global supply chains for critical minerals.  

The Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with counterparts.

With its natural resources, trade infrastructure, and established trade agreements, Canada is a strong and trusted global trading partner. Canada has what the world needs.
