Odessa A’zion Styles a Matted-down Mullet

Odessa A’zion joined a litany of A-listers for Nominees Night, hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Spotify as part of Golden Week, on Thursday in Los Angeles, donning a hairdo much tamer than her typical style.

Outside The Lot at Formosa, the 25-year-old “Marty Supreme” star ditched her wild curls for matted-down waves in the shape of a mullet.

The long arms of her sunglasses were placed over her face-framing layers, leaving hair in front of her ears like sideburns. Meanwhile, her top layers were brushed over the right side of her head and tucked behind her ears. From a distance, A’zion’s hairline disappeared under her bangs, which were gelled into tiny ripples on her forehead.

Hairstylist Matthew Holman — who worked with A’zion on the set of the HBO hit series, “I Love LA” — confirmed A’zion often does her own glam for public appearances and red carpets. However, it’s not certain if she was the sole stylist behind her Thursday night hairdo. WWD has reached out for confirmation.

The internet has been buzzing with debates over A’zion’s voluminous mop of curls for months, ever since she played Tallulah, a Gen Z micro influencer, in Rachel Sennott’s “I Love LA.” Calls for A’zion to drop her curl routine rang throughout TikTok as soon as the first episode aired, alongside speculation that her hair wasn’t real.

At the Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 4, A’zion seemed to put the rumors to bed, confessing she’s only worn a wig once for the L.A. premiere of “Marty Supreme.” Her hair at the New York screening, and every other time before and after that, has been her own.

A’zion isn’t the first woman to be caught in a wig-gate online. Last year, skeptics pointed their fingers at Sabrina Carpenter, accusing her frizzy curls of being fake throughout her “Short n’ Sweet” Tour. As the opening act on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the “Manchild” singer had either straight hair or long, drawn-out waves.
