The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, will visit Singapore and Brunei from February 19 to 21, 2025.

While in Singapore, Minister Ng will participate in the third annual Canada-in-Asia Conference. The conference will bring together leaders in business, government, and academia from across Asia and Canada with the goal of increasing collaboration to create jobs and business opportunities, and attract investment.

At the conference, Minister Ng will highlight Canada’s commitment to deepening bilateral trade and economic relations with the Indo-Pacific region, particularly through Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. She will also promote Canada’s globally esteemed nuclear industry during the Canada–Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Business Council Nuclear Energy Capacity Building Symposium. As Singapore looks to enhance its production of reliable clean energy, the symposium will provide ASEAN organizations and officials with the opportunity to learn about Canada’s leadership role and best practices in the nuclear sector.

In Brunei, Minister Ng will accompany a business delegation to explore niche opportunities for Canadian companies, especially micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises seeking opportunities in smaller Indo-Pacific markets. The Minister will also participate in an energy transition round-table discussion and speak with women leaders working to advance energy innovation and sustainability.

The Minister will also use her time in Singapore and Brunei to meet with her Singapore and Brunei counterparts to discuss trade diversification and shared priorities in the current geopolitical landscape. She will also visit Canadian companies with operations in Brunei and Singapore.
