Doomsday trailer 4 leaks, shows Wakanda-F4 meeting

The fourth teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is now running in movie theaters, which means it has also now leaked to the public hungry to see what’s next from Marvel (but not hungry enough to venture to a cineplex). The latest sneak peek at this year’s Avengers movie brings together an eclectic, multinational group: the Wakandans, the Talokanil, and one member of the Fantastic Four. Maybe two; Sue Storm may very well be in the trailer too, for all we know.

Avengers: Doomsday‘s latest trailer starts with an appearance from Shuri (Laetitia Wright), the current Black Panther, alongside Wakandan King M’Baku (Winston Duke) and the Dora Milaje, interspersed with shots of the Talokanil, including Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejía) and Namora (Mabel Cadena). M’Baku then meets the Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), though the context of their introduction isn’t quite clear.

“I’ve lost everyone that matters to me,” Shuri says in voiceover. “A king has his duties, to prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.” M’Baku then introduces himself to Ben, saying, “King M’Baku, of Wakanda.” Ben Grimm responds, “Ben. Uh, Yancy Street, between Broome and Grand.”

How this particular scene fits into the plot of Avengers: Doomsday is still a mystery, but it appears the Thing — and perhaps other members of the Fantastic Four — find themselves in the land of the Talokanil. The Wakandans may be picking up the FF, who could have reasonably landed there on their journey to the mainline MCU’s Earth, as seen in the post-credits sequence of Thunderbolts*. One could certainly appreciate that the Talokanil would not welcome visitors of the extra-dimensional variety after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Marvel Studios is rolling out a series of character-focused trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, with previous teasers focused on former Captain America Steve Rogers, Love’s dad Thor, and X-Men Cyclops, Professor X, and Magneto. A more traditional and comprehensive trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is rumored to arrive in time with Super Bowl LX, which happens on Feb. 8. If Marvel follows its playbook thus far, the fourth Doomsday trailer will go live officially on YouTube on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

In addition to the aforementioned Wakandans, Talokanil, and Things, Avengers: Doomsday stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside returning Marvel actors Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as White Widow, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on Dec. 18. A follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, arrives in December 2027.
