For the second consecutive off-season, the Las Vegas Raiders will be looking for a new head coach.
The news broke on Monday morning that the Raiders would be parting ways with Pete Carroll after one season, which ended with a disappointing 3-14 overall record, the worst among all 32 NFL teams. Carroll had initially signed a three-year deal with the franchise. This year also stands out as the season with the lowest winning percentage and fewest overall wins of Carroll’s head coaching career, which spans 19 seasons in the NFL and 9 in the NCAA.
In the franchise’s official announcement, penned by owner Mark Davis, it was announced that General Manager John Spytek will work together with minority owner Tom Brady to guide the franchise moving forward, and the pair will be responsible for the upcoming coach search the franchise faces.

“The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Pete Carroll of his duties as head coach. We appreciate and wish him and his family all the best. Moving forward, General Manager John Spytek will lead all football operations in close collaboration with Tom Brady, including the search for the club’s next head coach. Together, they will guide football decisions with a shared focus on leadership, culture, and alignment with the organization’s long-term vision and goals,”
Carroll is the third coach to join in the “Black Monday” bloodbath, with the Falcons kicking things off late Sunday night by firing Raheem Morris and the Browns continuing the action by severing ties with Kevin Stefanski early Monday morning. Overall, he is the fifth coach to be fired this season, with the Titans firing Brian Callahan and the Giants firing Brian Daboll mid-season.
