Elle Fanning Channels Grace Kelly in Vintage Nettie Rosenstein

Elle Fanning channeled late Hollywood star and fashion icon Grace Kelly at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards 2026 on Saturday night, dressed in a vintage pale blue satin gown from the 1950s.

“Finally got to wear this special vintage dress I bought a couple years ago to celebrate our International Star Award at the @psfilmfest !” Fanning captioned an Instagram post, showcasing the archival number. Her gown was designed by late fashion designer Nettie Rosenstein, who played a significant role in popularizing the little black dress. Styled by Samantha McMillen, Fanning sourced the piece from Portland-based vintage shop Xtabay.

The Nettie Rosenstein Couture gown was characterized by a structured, off-the-shoulder neckline with a subtle V-shaped cutout. The bodice featured soft seams and was cinched at the waist with a skinny matching belt. A floor-length A-line skirt added drama to the dress. The vintage silhouette harked back to Grace Kelly, who famously wore voluminous gowns throughout the 1950s.

For accessories, Fanning wore a Cartier Baignoire watch and its Panthère de Cartier ring, a fitting choice as she’s been an ambassador for the luxury jewelry house since 2023. Makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe was responsible for Fanning’s bright red lip and glowy skin, while hairstylist Jenda Alcorn styled the actress’ hair in a slicked-back bun, allowing her outfit to do all the talking.

Fanning’s latest movie, “Sentimental Value,” received the first-ever International Star Award at the ceremony on Saturday night, with the whole cast recognized for their ensemble performance. The director of the Norwegian film, Joachim Trier, presented the award to Fanning and her co-stars, Tenate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

“This extraordinary group embodies the very spirit of international cinema that our festival celebrates,” Palm Springs International Film Festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi said in a statement. “Their deeply felt performances illuminate Joachim Trier’s moving story of family and reconciliation.”
