Minister Anand meets with New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs


September 26, 2025 – New York City, New York – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Winston Peters, New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, New York.

The ministers discussed opportunities for deepening the Canada–New Zealand partnership and increasing the close and long-standing cooperation between the two countries on common security, defence, trade and foreign policy objectives.

They agreed on the importance of trade diversification, supply chain resilience and the need for deeper economic cooperation to contribute to a safe and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

Minister Anand reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to the Pacific Islands Forum and to contributing to regional priorities on climate change, sustainable development and security.
