Canada’s NDP announces details of NDP Leadership Forum « Canada’s NDP

OTTAWA – Canada’s NDP is pleased to announce the first event as part of the 2026 Leadership Race. The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) will host a leadership forum in Ottawa on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

NDP Leadership 2026: Federal NDP Leadership Forum, will be a sanctioned leadership race event, officially recognized by Canada’s NDP. While not organized by the Party, it will provide an opportunity for labour, progressives, and New Democrats to hear directly from official leadership contestants about their vision for building a fairer Canada where workers get a better deal.

More details about the event will be released directly by the Canadian Labour Congress in the coming days.

“The relationship between labour and the NDP is as important as ever, and we are grateful to the Canadian Labour Congress for hosting this important conversation during our leadership race,” said Mary Shortall, President of Canada’s NDP. “Labour was a founding partner of our Party, and that partnership remains vital to the future of our movement.”

In addition to this leadership forum, Canada’s NDP will host two official party debates during the leadership race, scheduled for November 2025 and February 2026. Further details will be announced soon.
