That’s grim news for drivers like Chuck, a 40-year-old in Wilmington, Delaware, who splurged two years ago on a Tesla Model Y after running his Honda Accord into the ground. He was enticed into the pricier vehicle by Uber’s EV incentives, which could reach $4,000 per year. Now, these bonuses have vanished, and he’s earning little more per ride than he did in his 10-year-old Honda. “It really stung a lot of us,” says Chuck, who requested his last name not be used for fear of being deactivated by Uber. “It’s only a one-way street now and it’s going Uber’s way.”
