Seven months after a crash killed four young women and their teacher returning home to Walkerton, Ont. from a highschool softball tournament, police say they’ve concluded their investigation.

They said no charges will be laid and no further details will be provided into what happened on May 24 when the vehicle carrying the five passengers collided with a transport truck, then an SUV at an intersection with a two-way stop, east of London.

“Following a comprehensive review of all evidence and circumstances, it’s been determined that no charges will be laid in relation to this incident,” OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media Tuesday.

High school students Olivia Rourke, Rowan McLeod, Kaydance Ford, Danica Baker, and their teacher Matt Eckert died, leaving their community shaken with grief. A large memorial was held at the Walkerton Community District School, where all attended, in the days following the crash.

“The OPP would like to extend its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic event. Our thoughts remain with them during this time,” Sanchuck said.

The driver of the transport truck and the two people in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
