Julia Fox Punctuates Menswear Look in New York with Gucci Python Pumps

The python pump is everywhere again, and Julia Fox just pushed it further.

The “Elsbeth” actress was spotted in New York City on Friday night wearing a look that hinged on a precise footwear choice: Gucci’s two-tone python and leather-trim peep-toe pumps. The outing, shared in part on her Instagram Stories while celebrating a friend’s birthday, placed the actress at the center of fashion’s growing return to snakeskin while tying the print to an undone menswear silhouette.

The pumps — cut with a short platform, a slim stiletto heel and a sharply curved upper — combined natural python paneling with smooth black leather trim. A metal buckle punctuated the vamp, giving the open-toe silhouette a hardware point that set the shoe apart from more minimal reptile styles circulating this season.

Fox styled the pumps with an intentionally undone menswear mix. She layered a black leather coat over a striped button-down and left the shirt fastened only at the center, creating an open neckline and an uneven hem. She added a loose tie over the collar to keep the look deliberately unfinished. The untucked shirt met the top of her leather skirt, which cut forward into a clean front slit. She finished the outfit with black tights, sunglasses and a silver necklace.

Fox is no stranger to wild shoes, either. Fox’s footwear this year has included a range of distinct silhouettes. Over the summer, she wore exaggerated heels, including curved platforms and balloon-shaped styles that appeared across several July outings. In August, she switched to pointed black stilettos with Saint Laurent’s Romy mules at Cara Delevingne’s birthday party. For her Agent Provocateur fall campaign, released in October, she wore closed-toe pumps shown alongside the collection’s tailored pieces.

Snakeskin, meanwhile, has become one of the clearest through lines of late-year footwear. Taylor Swift stepped out in Stella McCartney’s vegan python knee-highs last month; Olivia Palermo chose Jude’s sand-python pumps for the 2025 FNAAs; and Sarah Jessica Parker has folded the print into multiple outings, including a hybrid satin-and-snakeskin pump during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Brands from Miu Miu to Jimmy Choo have similarly treated the finish as a seasonal constant.
