Tiffany & Co’s Milan flagship Wins 2025 Prix Versailles Award

Tiffany & Co.’s Milan flagship at Via Montenapoleone, designed by Peter Marino, has been chosen for the World Selection of Emporiums for the Prix Versailles 2025.

“Our Montenapoleone store is a cultural hub where art, craftsmanship and hospitality come together, setting a new bar for luxury retail in Milan. We are deeply honored to receive the highest distinction granted by Prix Versailles, recognizing it as the World’s Most Beautiful Emporium. We extend a heartfelt thanks to Peter Marino for his extraordinary design vision,” Tiffany & Co. president and chief executive officer Anthony Ledru said.

Located in the Neoclassical Palazzo Taverna built in 1835, the striking store opened in April after more than two-and-a-half years of works.

“It’s an honor to receive the Prix Versailles award as the architect for Tiffany & Co.’s Via Montenapoleone flagship,” said Marino, who also created The Landmark, the American jeweler’s Fifth Avenue flagship in New York. “Milan — long defined by design and now a renewed center of global luxury — provided the perfect setting to express Tiffany’s language of craft, proportion and light. This recognition confirms the clarity of that vision and the life the brand has taken on within the city.”

The store spans almost 13,000 square feet and is Tiffany & Co.’s largest location in Europe. Throughout the store, customers can view exceptional artworks by notable artists including Michelangelo Pistoletto, Urs Fischer, Daniel Arsham and Julian Schnabel.

Upon entering, visitors are welcomed by a Michelangelo Pistoletto artwork titled “Color and Light” and marble walls with warm shades of beige and pink. A heritage window display showcases a theatrical bird’s-eye-view of the main floor of The Landmark, celebrating the brand’s New York legacy.

The heart of the store features a skylight and an all-glass structural staircase envisioned by Marino and designed by Hugh Dutton. Together they create a sculptural expression of glass and light, meant to be reminiscent of diamonds.

Established by UNESCO in 2015, the Prix Versailles are esteemed global architecture awards that shine a light on exceptional contemporary buildings like airports, museums, hotels and stations for innovation, sustainability and cultural integration, rewarding designs that harmonize with their surroundings and improve living environments.
