Sony Unveils 27-Inch, 240Hz PlayStation Monitor That Charges Your PS5 Controller

Sony held a State of Play event on Tuesday, focusing on new PS5 game releases for Japan and Asia. While it’s likely most of the games showcased will eventually make their way to the US, the company made a surprise reveal of a new PlayStation-branded gaming monitor.

Revealed at the end of the show, the PlayStation monitor has a 27-inch QHD IPS display that reaches up to 240Hz when connected to a PC and 120Hz when connected to a PS5, and it’s coming out next year. The monitor also has the unique feature of a hook below the monitor that can both hold and charge a PS5 DualSense controller.

This new PlayStation monitor appears to be part of Sony’s strategy of releasing its own PlayStation-branded peripherals. In September, it revealed its Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, intended to work with the PS5, that will be released in 2026 as well. Sony previously released its Pulse Explore earbuds and Pulse Elite wireless headset, as well as the PlayStation Portal handheld for remote play.

What are the PlayStation monitor specs?

Following the event, Sony published the specs for the monitor on its PlayStation Blog:

  • A Quad High Definition IPS display with up to 2,560×1,440-pixel resolution

When will the PlayStation monitor come out?

The PlayStation gaming monitor is set to release in the US and Japan in 2026.

How much will the PlayStation monitor cost?

No price was mentioned with the announcement. It is unlikely to be priced similarly to other gaming monitors given its PlayStation branding and controller-charging feature, so expect to pay a bit more for the monitor.
