Believe it or not, upcoming open-world RPG Where Winds Meet has over 10 million pre-registrations, here’s why you should care

Where Winds Meet, an upcoming open world action RPG, has reached 10 million pre-registered players. This comes as the game nears its 14th November release date.

Pre-downloadable starting the 12th November, Where Winds Meet was announced last year and has since gained a passionate following of players keen to experience its interesting blend of martial arts and wuxia combat. It helps the game is totally free-to-play too, with fiscal support coming from cosmetic micro transactions.

The game itself is split into two parts, interestingly enough. There’s a giant single player component in which you progress through the majority of the story on your own or in co-op. There’s also a large multiplayer half to the game, in which you can join guilds, take on dungeons, raids, PvP battles, and more. So it’s got a bit of that MMO juice in it, something that’ll certainly help set it apart from other action titles.

The game has professions, various different combat styles, parkour, character customisation, and all manner of exploratory features that should keep you keen for a while. It’s a game that’s not getting a huge amount of discussion in this slam-packed season of game releases, but as the pre-registration figures show, there’s a lot of excitement around it.

As part of hitting that 10 million pre-registration figure, players will receive an in-game thank you gift on-launch which is a nice touch. After it releases Where Winds Meet will be supported with seasonal updates, the first being dubbed “Blade Out” and expanding on the main narrative.

Where Winds Meet is the latest in an ongoing string of Chinese game development studios releasing big budget titles globally. It follows the road set out by Black Myth: Wukong, which changed the game for developers in the region. Others are coming alongside it, including Phantom Blade Zero, and Tides of Annihilation which are yet to be released.
