What is the Extent of Jaxson Dart’s Injury? Russell Wilson Replaced QB in Giants’ Loss

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears after exiting in the second half with a concussion, with Russell Wilson entering in his place.

Dart went 19-of-29 for 242 yards prior to exiting, adding 66 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. New York led 20-10 at the time of his exit.

The Giants went on to lose the game, 24-20.

Dart entered the season having completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 1,175 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in eight games, adding 251 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Wilson, meanwhile, has completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 786 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. He was New York’s Week 1 starter before being benched for Dart after starting the season 0-3.

The 36-year-old Wilson joined a team that remade the QB room by adding two veterans (Wilson and Jameis Winston) as well as Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in this year’s draft.

The 10-time Pro Bowler signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal (worth up to $21 million with incentives) with the Giants last March, and he entered this season as the starting quarterback.

Last year, Wilson played and started 11 regular season games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He posted a 95.6 passer rating, ranked 14th in the NFL.

Wilson has played 13 NFL seasons, with his first 10 occurring with the Seattle Seahawks before two with the Denver Broncos. He helped lead Seattle to a Super Bowl win to cap the 2013 season and also earned All-Pro Second Team honors in 2019.

If Dart has to miss additional time, it appears Wilson may get another chance to show what he can do.
