Arc Raiders may have sold over 2.5m copies, according to data from industry analyst Rhy Elliott from Alinea Analytics.

Alinea Analytics, a video game data and market analysis company, has stated that 2.5m copies, surpassing $100m in revenue for developer Embark Studios. The majority of these sales come from Steam users, where roughly 69.2% of are present according to Alinea Analytics.

So why is Arc Raiders so popular, when other extraction shooters haven’t reached such highs in terms of sales or player count? Well, according to the blog posted by Elliott: “ARC Raiders is great because it focuses on community – NOT because it’s an extraction shooter”.

They also noted that there’s a crossover between other co-operative games, and that the focus of community in Arc Raiders may have made all the difference. Elliott wrote: “Our crossover estimates show that about half of ARC Raiders players on Steam have also played Phasmophobia, Lethal Company, and Helldivers 2, respectively. And over 40% have played R.E.P.O, Valheim, PEAK, and Dead by Daylight.”

Arc Raiders are actually waging a war of words between themselves over the collaborative nature of the game, with many feeling torn between helping other raiders out and going in for the kill on strangers. While taking on the weekly trials, it’s clear to see the frustration from dying after a bountiful run.
