Two victims were killed and several were injured from an apparently targeted shooting at an ice skating rink in Rhode Island on Monday, authorities said.

The gunshots rang out around 2:30 p.m. at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, about 5 miles outside of Providence, according to Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves.

Besides the two victims killed, three people who were shot and injured have been taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

The shooting appears to be a targeted and “family-related,” the chief said, describing it as possibly a family dispute.

The suspect is dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. The FBI added that there’s “no imminent threat to public safety.”

The FBI is responding to the scene and will provide state and local law enforcement with any necessary resources, FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement.

The superintendent of one of the schools playing at the time of the shooting said in a message to parents that all students on the team are safe.

Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee said on social media, “I am praying for Pawtucket and everyone involved.”

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
