One man has been found guilty of first-degree murder and another acquitted on all charges in the trial of a 15-year-old girl who was gunned down in Montreal during a drive-by shooting in 2021.

Salim Touaibi, who admitted during the trial to opening fire during the incident, was found guilty of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder.

Another man, Aymane Bouadi, was acquitted on all charges. The jury found Bouadi not guilty of first-degree murder and not guilty of the four counts of attempted murder.

The verdict came on the ninth day of deliberation.

The trial in Quebec Superior Court heard that Boundaoui was caught in the crossfire of a dispute that did not involve her, which arose between two family-owned businesses over parking spots.

Boundaoui was shot in the head while sitting in the passenger seat of a car in Montreal’s Saint-Léonard borough on Feb.7, 2021.

A white, two-door Mercedes rental car had pulled up next to the car, then shots rang out before the luxury car sped off, police said during the trial.

Under Canadian law, a first-degree murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
