Gigi Hadid Is In Her Golden Era

Gigi Hadid’s favorite color is yellow. “Sunflower yellow,” she specifies as we cozy into a giant couch at the Ritz Nomad. “It’s like the color of life to me.” It makes sense, actually—not to get all woo-woo—but she’s sort of the personification of the color: sunny, bright, warm, the right amount of loud.

Hadid adds that in the world of colors, there’s only one thing more amplified, more extra, more intense than her beloved yellow. “Gold,” she says. “The color reminds me of royalty, of special things, of special moments.”

Tonight, we’re celebrating one of those special moments: Hadid is the face of Rabanne’s Million Gold for Her fragrance and celebrating at a pop-up event nearby. Appropriately, she’s dressed in a pin-striped suit with golden jewelry that mirrors the link on the faceted bottle. Inside, notes of rose, jasmine, and a mineral-y musk combine into a scent that walks the line between feminine and masculine.

It’s the note of jasmine that’s especially stirring for Hadid. “One of my first fragrance memories was that this fence in my backyard had jasmine vines on it. When the sun hit the jasmine the air would smell incredible.”

In honor of this golden moment, Hadid shared her golden rules to life. First off, smelling good: “True story, but at Paris Fashion Week, everybody kept telling me that I smelled good. I was scared to admit to them it was Million Gold because they would think it was cheesy. But I actually wear it and it actually smells good!”

Gigi’s Golden Rules

For a good hair day

“I put on a hat because I like ease. Find what makes you feel good with your hair in the easiest way possible, like a great headband, and get it in all the colors. So for a good hair day, find what works for you and makes you feel great fast.”

For gifting

“If you see something that you like for someone and it’s not near their birthday or the holiday, just buy it for them. Because when the time to give them a gift comes around, you’ll have forgotten about the idea. Also, you can just give it to them at a random time of the year. Who doesn’t love random gifts?”

For vintage shopping

“When you find a really special vintage piece while shopping, just go for it. You sometimes can’t find it again.”

For a good party

“My golden rule for a party is to have a charcuterie board. I love a massive grazing board, mixing savory and sweet, with cheese and fruit and bread and meat and desserts everywhere. Cover the whole table. My 26th birthday party was cheese-themed, cheese is the gold of life.”

For a good morning

“A shower. Showers are just like…They just set me off right. Whatever time of day.”
