Why small, medium businesses are ‘cautiously optimistic’ about 2026


Small and medium-sized business owners are remaining cautiously optimistic in their 2026 outlook, according to Bank of America’s latest Business Owner Report, as they continue to contend with inflation and even tariff pressures.

Bank of America President of Business Banking Sharon Miller shares the findings from the survey, noting how 70% of these surveyed businesses plan to expand this year.
