Poland Eyes New Growth Engines to Compete in Big Leagues, State Assets Minister Says


Over the coming decade, Poland plans to plow about 1 trillion zloty ($271 billion) into the energy industry alone, upgrading its power grid and building new power plants, including its first nuclear reactor. The country is also boosting spending on defense, infrastructure and technology. Poland’s economy is now among the 20 largest in the world, and its gross domestic product per capita, adjusted for purchasing power, has already surpassed that of Japan.
