The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will release in 2027
The rumors were true: more The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on the way. On May 27, CD Projekt Red announced the upcoming expansion, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past. It will be released in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
The company originally planned to reveal the news during the REDStreams event on May 28, but unexpected leaks forced them to share the announcement earlier. The long-awaited expansion is co-developed with Fool’s Theory, the Polish independent studio behind The Thaumaturge and Seven: The Days Long Gone. Fool’s Theory is also working on the ongoing remake of the original The Witcher game.
According to the announcement, fans will once again take control of Geralt of Rivia in this upcoming DLC, in stark contrast with The Witcher 4, where Ciri will be the main character. The title of the DLC suggests that the events either take place before the end of The Witcher 3 or that they have strong ties with Geralt’s past. In both cases, players worldwide will be ecstatic to return to the world inspired by the works of Andrzej Sapkowski.
What does this mean for The Witcher 4? It’s still possible that CD Projekt Red will release both the DLC and the new game in 2027, considering that the former is a co-development effort. Fans will have to wait until the late summer of 2026 to get more information on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past.
