Lobby Wrap: Terrestar wants to talk about replacing the need for foreign satellite technology

According to his mandatory filing with the Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying, Terrestar wants to work with the federal government to replace the need for foreign satellite technology and spectrum allocation, while advancing national sovereignty and domestic infrastructure, Arctic security, a renewed commitment to rural and northern connectivity and ultimately advancing and investing in satellite technology and made-in-Canada innovations.

New Registrations

Since Feb. 14, the AsiaCan Clean Energy Fund was the most registered organization, with three unique registrations made on their behalf. 

Since Feb. 14, Sandstone Group led all registrant groups with seven unique registrations each. They were followed by Wellington Advocacy who had six. 

From Feb. 14-20, Marc Roy from Sandstone Group led all lobbyists with seven unique registrations.

Les Producteurs de lait du Québec was registered by Christian Giroux and Mariette Gagnon, both members of the board of directors of the organization for a number of lobbying goals. Primarily, to discuss the Grocery Code of Conduct to ensure that grocery industry practices are governed by a mandatory code, which will allow for a fair sharing of profit margins between grocers, processors and retailers. Additionally, the client sought to jointly develop,with the Government of Canada and provincial authorities, a program supporting the investments required that will enable Canadian dairy farms to implement the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Dairy Cattle as well as to ensure the continuity of current funding in the next agricultural strategic framework. Meetings were also held centered around maintaining and protecting supply management, with regard to the legislative framework required for the uniform application of the Canadian Dairy Policy.

BC Libraries Cooperative was registered in-house by Kevin Millsip, their executive director. The focus of their lobbying effort was on Bill C-15, specifically Division 2, amendments to the Canada Post Corporation Act. The client also sought to restore federal funding for services for those across Canada with reading disabilities.
