- Cate Blanchett and Selena Gomez have boarded Brady Corbet’s new film.
- It’ll span decades but is mostly set in the 1970s.
- Michael Fassbender is also in the cast.
Despite a long, three-hour-plus running time (including an intermission!), writer/director Brady Corbet’s ‘The Brutalist’ certainly won plaudits, including three Oscars in 2025. And the filmmaker is definitely able to attract big names to star in his complex, emotional epics.
Cate Blanchett let slip at the Cannes Film Festival that she’s about to work on the director’s next project, joining Selena Gomez, whose casting was revealed by The InSneider.

The pair will star along Michael Fassbender, who has been attached for a while.

Corbet is keeping much of the information about his latest close to his chest as always –– but he has said this about it:
“The film spans from the 19th century into the present day — it’s just predominantly focused on the ’70s. The film is really, really genre-defying.”
It’s also reportedly being shot using very rare 65mm cameras, and will be another long sit –– the script, per the director, ran to around 200 pages (for comparison, ‘The Brutalist’s screenplay was 175 pages…)

Gomez is attached to play fellow musician Linda Ronstadt in a biopic of the singer, and will be back on our screens this year for the sixth season of comedy murder mystery series ‘Only Murders in the Building’.
